Forsyth Conference @ Otwell MS Tier Takeover October Competition

Welcome to the Forsyth Conference @ Otwell Middle RECF Engage Tier Takeover October Qualifier. This tournament is being held at Otwell Middle School in Cumming, Georgia. We are requesting that any team that would like to be considered for Judged Awards such as Excellence, Design, or Innovate, submit their Engineering Notebook to the judges during interviews the morning of the event. For our events this season, we are asking that teams turn in a hard copy of their engineering notebook. If your team is using a digital engineering notebook, please print off a copy and bring it with you to the event.
We will be live streaming the entire event so parents can watch their students compete from the comfort and quietness of their own home if they wish.
All participants are expected to complete the participant release form . (also available in Spanish) Once per season covers all events.

Doors open at 7:45
Schedule
• 7:45 Door opens for students
• 7:45-8:15 – Inspection
• 8:10 – 10:00 Solo matches and round one of interviews
o Teams must be in line for solo matches by 9:50 or they must wait until after the drivers meeting and run solo matches in between their alliance matches.
• 10:00 - 10:15 - Driver’s meeting
• 10:15 – 12:00 - Teamwork
• 12:00 – 12:30 - Lunch
• 12:30 – 2:45 – Teamwork
• 2:45 – 3:15 - Finals
• 3:15 to 3:30 – Awards
Please remember that we are dealing with technology that at any time can decide to completely ruin the proposed schedule. We will do our best to adhere to this schedule.
Students - Please help us stay on schedule by arriving to your matches on time.

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges. If your team is using a digital engineering notebook, please print off a copy and bring it with you to the event.

In the event of extreme weather or other emergencies that cause travel or safety issues for most teams, the event may be postponed or cancelled, as necessary. All teams will be notified and kept up to date with changes as soon as they are made.

If the Event Partner cancels the event:
If an event must be canceled, every attempt will be made to reschedule the event to provide the opportunity for the students to compete. If the event cannot be rescheduled, a refund will be given less the $5 that the REC must keep covering their processing fees. For example, a refund of $35 would be given for an event that costs $40. If you have any questions about this policy, please reach out to the event partner.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event, then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
No refunds will be given unless there is a team on the waitlist that can attend in the withdrawing teams place. In the event there is a team from the waitlist that can replace the withdrawing team, a refund will be given less the $5 that the REC must keep covering their processing fees. For example, a refund of $35 would be given for an event that costs $40. If you have any questions about this policy, please reach out to the event partner.
