General information

Season Launch: Ready to Rise Scrimmage is a friendly, non-qualifying robotics event for teams participating in the 2026–2027 RECF Engage Robotics Competition: Tier Takeover.

The event provides elementary and middle school teams with opportunities to:

  • Test and improve their robots;
  • Practice driving and autonomous programming skills;
  • Develop and evaluate match strategies;
  • Become familiar with RECF robot inspection and event procedures;
  • Exchange experience with other teams in the robotics community.

Teams are expected to participate in Solo Driving Matches, Solo Coding Matches, and Alliance Matches. The event format may be adjusted based on the number of registered teams and volunteers available.

In the 2026–2027 game Tier Takeover, robots navigate a 6 ft × 8 ft field to collect bean bags and place them in or on matching goals to score points. Teams are encouraged to develop creative robot designs, mechanisms, and strategies while following the latest official game rules.

This event will be conducted as a Scrimmage. It does not qualify teams for an Event Region Championship, and its results will not be recognized as official qualifying results for the RECF Engage season.

Under RECF guidance, a scrimmage may follow the standard tournament format or be customized to best serve the practice and development needs of the local robotics community.

The event is open to RECF Engage teams in the following categories:

  • U12/Elementary School: students aged 12 or younger on May 6, 2027;
  • U15/Middle School: students aged 15 or younger on May 6, 2027.

Each RECF Engage team must include at least two student members.

Participating teams should bring:

  • A competition-ready robot;
  • Controllers, batteries, and battery chargers;
  • A laptop or programming device;
  • Tools and spare parts;
  • An engineering notebook, if available;
  • Personal items needed during the event.

Participation is free of charge, and the event is limited to a maximum of 24 teams. Advance registration is required.

All teams and participants must follow:

  • The latest RECF Engage: Tier Takeover Game Manual;
  • The official RECF Q&A system;
  • The RECF Student-Centered Policy;
  • The RECF Code of Conduct;
  • The RECF Youth Protection Policy;
  • Instructions provided by the Event Partner and Head Referee.
