Menasha's Annual Achieve Robotics Tournament

Registration Information

All participating teams must be registered with RECF and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the RECF Events website.

Engineering notebooks

We will be collecting Physical engineering notebooks at this event for judging.

Lunch and Concessions

Full concessions will be available from 9 am to 3 pm. Lunch specials will be announced.

Elimination Matches

The number of elimination alliances depends on the total number of teams signed up (16-23 teams = 8 alliances in finals, 24-31 teams =12 alliances in finals, 32+ teams = 16 alliances in finals). Eleminations matches will start shortly after the last qualification match at about 3:00.

Competition Preparation

All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

Review all game information

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use the VEX V5 controls system and approved parts defined in the manual. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament.

1. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

   • Goggles/Safety Glasses

   • Spare parts & tools

   • Batteries and chargers

   • Power strip and extension cord

   • Laptop computer

   • Programming cable

   • Engineering notebook (Required for judged awards)

   • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

   • Giveaways if you have them

2. Review the descriptions and criteria for awards that are being given during the tournament.

3. Prep for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

4. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

5. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to events.vex.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament.

10:00 am - Opening Ceremony

10:05 am - Qualification Matches Start, Skills Field Opens

2:45 pm - Qualification​ Matches End, Skills Field Closes

3:15 pm - Alliance Selection

3:45 pm - Elimination Rounds Start

5:15 pm - Award announcements - Closing

Concessions are open most of the day serving a breakfast and lunch assortment at very reasonable prices.

The match schedule must be completed at the scheduled time and no team additions are possible after the match schedule is released.  So, please email if you will be arriving late so we can get you on the match schedule!

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If bad weather is in the forecast, please watch your emails for updates from us regarding possible cancellation of our event.  If needed, we will post a cancellation notice on our tournament page at events.vex.com.

Refund and Payment Policies

All registration fees must be paid two weeks prior to the event.

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

Teams will be refunded minus the $5 recf fee. 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Any teams that cancel earlier than two weeks may request a refund minus a 20% fee.

Any teams that cancel later than two weeks prior to the event may not receive a refund.

Teams that register less than two weeks before the event must pay at time of registration. The registration fee will be non-refundable.
