Roswell Robo Squad Robotics is proud to serve as an Event Partner for the REC Foundation and host the Roswell Robotics Rumble at Roswell Mall in Roswell, New Mexico.

The Roswell Robotics Rumble brings teams together for an exciting day of robotics competition, teamwork, engineering, programming, and innovation. Students will have the opportunity to put their skills to the test, compete with other teams, and experience the excitement of the Robotics competition environment.

Roswell Robotics Rumble — Event Day Schedule

8:00 AM — Doors Open / Team Check-In
Teams arrive, check in, unload equipment, and set up their pits.

8:00–9:00 AM — Robot Inspection
Teams complete robot inspection and address any required corrections.

9:00–9:20 AM — Opening Ceremony
Welcome from Roswell Robo Squad Robotics, event announcements, team recognition, and competition overview.

9:20–12:00 PM — Qualification Matches
Qualification matches begin.

12:00–12:45 PM — Lunch / Break
Lunch break for teams, volunteers, and event staff.

12:45–2:30 PM — Qualification Matches Continue
Remaining qualification matches are completed.

2:30–3:15 PM — Finals / Elimination Matches
Top teams advance to the elimination portion of the competition, as applicable.

3:15–3:45 PM — Awards Ceremony
Awards and recognition for teams, students, volunteers, and event participants.

3:45 PM — Event Conclusion / Pack-Up
Teams pack up their equipment and prepare for departure.

Times are subject to change based on the number of registered teams and the final event schedule.

Judging & Team Interviews

Judging and team interviews are an important part of the event and give teams an opportunity to share their work, explain their engineering process, and demonstrate what they have learned throughout the season.

How Judging Works

Judges may visit teams in their pit areas to learn about their robot, team organization, engineering process, and season experience. Teams should be prepared to explain how they designed, built, programmed, tested, and improved their robot.

Teams may also participate in a scheduled interview with judges. Interviews give students an opportunity to talk about their individual contributions, teamwork, problem-solving, and experiences throughout the season.

What Teams Should Bring

Teams should bring:

• Their competition robot and required equipment
• Engineering Notebook, if maintained
• Information about their robot's design and development
• Programming and engineering information
• Examples of design changes and improvements
• Knowledge of their team's goals and accomplishments
• All team members who are participating in the interview, when possible

Team Interview Tips

Students should be prepared to speak for themselves and answer questions from the judges. Coaches and adult mentors should allow students to explain their own work and experiences.

Teams should arrive prepared, organized, and ready to demonstrate their knowledge, teamwork, creativity, and engineering process.

Most importantly: Be prepared, be yourself, and let the students tell the story of their team!

The event will be held at Roswell Mall, located on North Main Street in Roswell, New Mexico.

🚗 Directions & Parking

Teams and spectators should enter the Roswell Mall parking area and park in the main mall parking lot. Parking is available around the mall.

Once inside the mall, follow event signage for the Roswell Robotics Rumble and the designated robotics event area.

Please allow extra time for unloading robots and equipment and getting through team check-in and inspection.

Several hotels are located along North Main Street, close to Roswell Mall. Options include:

• Holiday Inn Roswell — 3620 N. Main St., approximately 0.5 miles from the mall.
• Comfort Suites Roswell — 3610 N. Main St., approximately 0.6 miles from the mall.

👟 First-Time Visitor Information

If this is your first visit to Roswell Mall for a robotics event, please keep the following in mind:

• Doors open at 8:00 AM.
• Teams should arrive early enough to complete check-in and robot inspection.
• Bring all required competition equipment, tools, batteries, controllers, and spare parts.
• Wear comfortable shoes—teams and volunteers may be on their feet for much of the day.
• Keep team equipment organized and clearly labeled.
• Follow all mall and event safety rules.
• Students should remain with their team and follow directions from coaches, volunteers, and event staff.
• Please do not block mall entrances, walkways, emergency exits, or other businesses.
• Food and drinks should remain in designated areas and away from competition equipment.
• Teams traveling from outside Roswell should plan ahead for lodging and meals.

Medical, Severe Weather & Emergency Information

🚑 Medical Emergencies

For any serious medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Roswell's emergency dispatch center coordinates police, fire, and emergency medical services throughout the area.

For a non-life-threatening situation, please notify Roswell Robo Squad Robotics event staff so we can assist and contact the appropriate mall or emergency personnel.

🌩️ Severe Weather Plan

Roswell can experience severe thunderstorms, high winds, and tornadoes. Event staff will monitor official weather information and follow instructions from local emergency authorities.

If severe weather threatens the event:

1. Event staff will notify teams and spectators.
2. Competition activities may be paused or stopped.
3. Everyone will be directed to an appropriate interior shelter area away from windows and exterior walls.
4. During a tornado warning, remain in shelter and protect your head and neck from possible debris.
5. Do not leave the shelter area until event staff or emergency personnel determine that it is safe.

The City of Roswell recommends seeking shelter indoors, preferably in an interior room away from windows, doors, and exterior walls when tornado warnings are issued.
